A lot of times we want a break from work, but don’t want to go too far. Or, the boss gave you a chhutti, but you promised to work online! Several places within India provide the much needed calm and are a little offbeat than your usual Goa trip or hiking to the Himalayas.

Rishikesh is no surprise when it comes to people from all across the world visiting it for adventure and spirituality. The holy town of Rishikesh sees a lot of digital nomads who come to experience the Ganga aarti and settle for some time to work as well. They enjoy the perfect blend of adventure, spirituality and food in the culturally rich Rishikesh. Imagine working four hours in a day at a café and spending the remaining day exploring the narrow lanes, talking to the sadhus and indulging in some authentic Indian cuisine. Rightly so with its Rajputana forts, ornate palaces, resplendent temples, busy markets, stunning architecture, serene lakes and most romantic sunsets. While you can live with the locals here, discover their rich culture, go for shopping, or gorge on great food, you can sit by lakes choose from a variety of locally available food, and enjoy the breeze.

Kinnaur, Lahaul, and Spiti (Himachal Pradesh)

A great Himalayan adventure is incomplete without Kinnaur, Lahaul, and Spiti Valleys (starting in Shimla and ending in Manali). Those of you who love to backpack and be on the move, this can be one of the most spectacular options. While on the go you will come across the villages of Kalpa, Nako, Tabo, Dhankar, Kaza, Ki, and Kibber along the way, as well as one of the oldest Tibetan temples.

The breathtaking snow-capped mountains, the clear sound of winds, a nearby waterfall, can totally replace the chatter of your office and refresh you instantly!

Most of these places have readily available wifi, while Himachal Pradesh can be a little tricky, once you climb down, there are plenty of businesses run by the locals who provide internet and charging options.
