We are sure many of you must have seen the “Hashtag Indore” at the Kahn River and might even have clicked selfie with it. But do you know the brains behind the same? Well, ‘Hashtag Indore’ is a design idea of Wajid Khan and he made sure, he is making something that is going to attract lot of eyeballs and attention!
So, What It Is Made Of and The Idea Behind It
The entire design and construction of Hashtag Indore is done using utensils that we use to fetch or drink water! Yes, you read that right! When Wajid Khan came to know about the Rally for Rivers, it instantly struck him with an idea to incorporate something related with it. He contacted the authorities and told them that he would love to be a part of this mission. When the authorities at Rally for Rivers came to know that Wajid is an artist himself, they asked him to come up with some idea that relates to this cause. So he gave them an idea of putting ‘Hashtag Indore’ at Kahn River and suggested using every utensil that is used to fetch water for the construction of the same!
Why They Chose Khan River?
They chose River Kahn to put Hashtag Indore because it was, at one time, a very beautiful River which was over the time converted into a dirty Naala. Now the River is getting cleaned and Hashtag Indore signifies the drive and the motive of it at the Kahn River.
How Challenging It Was?
Wajid states that though the idea was instant; to make it into reality was quite a task as he had only 42 hours. They collected all the utensils from houses and a total of 400 member strong team was working together behind the concept. Daly College, IMC, and Sadguruji offered immense help in the project as well.
Some Interesting Facts
- 6 tonnes of total utensils were used in the project.
- When Hashtag Indore was getting fixed, the team ran out of welding road at 2AM that too in the midst of rains. So the team went at 2AM in the night in the hunt for welding rods and found one welder who had the rods but of different specs that worked with the welding machine he had. So that welder came to the location at 4AM in the morning and the welding commenced!
Indore HD is proud of every single individual who was a part of this project and says a big thank you to Mr. Wajid Khan for giving this city a piece of Art that we will cherish for our lives!
