Indore: How’s Life Like for Those Recovered from COVID-19?

They may have recovered from the virus that has shook the whole world but life for several Covid-19 survivors has changed drastically after they conquered the disease. From finding ‘new meaning’ of their life and relations to facing social boycott from their relatives and neighbours, they are going through it all.

One such survivor who is a 24-year-old professional was undergoing treatment for almost a month. While going through the treatment, she learnt so many ‘life lessons’ which she failed to do so during her studies or even in job. The girl had lost her father on March 31 and the next day found herself admitted in a hospital along with her younger sister and mother, something she had never expected.

Since all three members of the family were hospitalized, none of them could attend the rituals. With just three women in the family, future challenges pose a certain risk but now she believes in almighty more than ever.

Just like her, a resident of Sairam Colony had most of his family members in hospital. Seven members of his family tested positive for Covid -19 and had to be hospitalized. This was something they had never expected and were also not prepared for, but what choice did they have other than to face it?! This unexpected turn of events, however brought forth ‘real’ character of the neighbours and relatives. All members of the family were discharged after 15-days of hospitalization but it’s likely to take another 3-4 months to witness a positive change in behaviour of the people towards the family.

Another one, a resident of Gumasta Nagar said that people in his locality were not cooperating with him after his mother was admitted to hospital as Covid-19 suspect. They had been purchasing grocery from a shop in his locality for around 15 years. After his mother was admitted to hospital, the shopkeeper refused to sell grocery to them. When they showed him the report, he said that he was forced by locals not to attend his family. Wife of a Covid-19 survivor said that they had to lead double fight, one against the disease and another with their near and-dear-ones.
