In the wake of the Coronavirus, various important and precautionary decisions have been taken by the government which now includes a decision related to performing the last rites of a person caused by COVID-19. When two incidents were reported wherein relatives of COVID-19 patients took their bodies to Dewas and Ratlam and buried them without following the precautionary measures, the district administration put a ban on taking bodies outside the district; a day after Indore border was sealed.
As a part of this, if any death is reported in a hospital due to COVID-19 or any other illness, the body will directly be taken to crematorium/graveyard as permission will not be granted to take it outside the district’s border in any circumstances. All the private and government hospitals have been instructed to persuade their relatives for the same.
Furthermore, the wrong certification of reasons of death, in a bid to take the body outside the district, will lead to the cancellation of MCI’s registration of the doctor. Besides, set protocols to cover the body of the positive/suspected case will be thoroughly followed.
In a similar order, the collector has put a ban on participation of more than five people in the last rites of any patient as it is necessary to maintain social distancing and its violation will be counted under Section 144 of CrPC.
In addition to this, Indore police sent 120 curfew-violators to the temporary jail in a building of Vaishnav Vidyapith College. The local police also roped in its intelligence in topic/Vidyapith-College identification of those, who are associated with the recent Tablighi Jamaat incident and may be infected with the virus.
