With various initiatives taking place in terms of infrastructure, policies, restoration in Indore, another initiative is to provide last-mile connectivity to the public and in order to do so, the administration will develop an e-rickshaw hub at Vijay Nagar and Bhawarkuan square.

The administration is working on starting 100 e-rickshaws on feeder routes of the BRTS corridor from next month. Vijay Nagar will also get a cycle stand as many students catch public transport from this point.

Collector Lokesh Kumar Jatav stated that in days to come, BRTS is likely to get one more traffic signal. He informed that the administration is also working to start service of 100 e-rickshaws on feeder routes of the corridor from next month. The team is trying to equip battery-run vehicles, which will be run only by women drivers, with WiFi, FM, panic button and other facilities.

He added that in traffic-cabinet, engineering parts of roads to improve traffic system including reducing or removing rotary from squares including Vijay Nagar will be discussed in the next meetings. In the review meeting held on Monday, the district administration also decided to develop ‘city-forest’, earlier allotted to Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) as ‘citizen forest’ by involving locals into planting saplings and nurturing them to conserve environment.

The collector talked about the land allotted to IMC in various locations to develop them as city forest. He further added that they have now decided public participation by allotting plots with each having the capacity to plant at least 500 saplings to develop the same as citizen forest.

It will be a responsibility of respective groups of people/NGOs/organizations to carry out plantation and make required arrangements to nurture saplings to help them become trees. He added that in another decision, a special hearing will be held on December 14 to dispose of cases related to Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

He also said in the weekly public hearing, that they receive many cases related to the act, which says that the parents/senior citizens are entitled to monthly maintenance. He said they will take strict actions against children and relatives, who are found guilty of depriving elderly persons of their rights.

He added that ahead of final exams of secondary and higher secondary classes, the district administration will provide model answers to students to prepare accordingly and urge students with excellent academic records to hold sessions in respective classes to motivate and guide classmates.

We are hoping that this connectivity plan will help citizens travel better, after the public transport – BRTS route has ended.
