E-commerce giant Amazon India has said on Sunday that it has launched around 1 lakh grocery stores, local shops, and neighborhood shops across the country through its various initiatives to facilitate package delivery this festive season. The company said that more than twenty thousand offline retailers, grocery, and local shops will participate in the Great Indian Festival for the first time through the Local Shops on Amazon program.
They will sell various items like everyday essentials, large appliances and home decor products.
The company said in a statement that this format would help shop owners to have a digital presence and expand their reach. At the same time, customers will be able to shop from local stores in their city. This program was launched in April this year. It now includes more than twenty thousand retailers in 400 cities such as Meerut, Ludhiana, Saharanpur, Surat, Indore, Ernakulam, and Kanchipuram. At the same time, more than 40 percent of the sellers come from outside the top 10 cities.
Other programs of the company include Amazon Easy Stores, I Have Space, and Amazon Pay Smart Store. Amazon India Vice President Manish Tiwari was quoted telling a popular source, “The focus of the company this time is to help the seller and other MSME Partners grow their business.”
This will help them overcome the current challenges. The last few months have seen that every business is adopting technology now. The company hopes that the Great Indian Festival will bring both growth and success.
Significantly, recently, Walmart-owned Flipkart said that it has onboarded more than fifty thousand grocery stores to strengthen its supply chain and increase delivery capacity in view of the upcoming festive season. In addition, Flipkart is rapidly expanding its grocery onboarding program to deliver delivery to customers in more than 850 cities.
