Dogsvilla, India – An Indore based company educating people about dogs & their breeds.

“Judge the deed and not the breed” was the core concept of the 1st ever terrier breed, organized by Dogsvilla in Indore.

Brother duo, Akram Khan & Anis Khan, Co-founders of Dogsvilla, India, organized a wonderful educational fun filled event of the entire Terrier breed owners of the city, with a sole purpose of educating people and clearing out the misconceptions, people have about the Terrier breeds, specially the Pitbull Terrier.

Brains behind Dogsvilla, India

Akram & Anis started this company 5 years ago, when their business Idea made it to the top 100 Start-up ideas out of 16,000 entries at IIM Ahmadabad. What started as a small idea of match making site for dogs, took a shape of a full-fledged company, providing one stop solution for all the dog’s need. Their prime focus is on educating people and apart from that, you can seek their service for Dog Training, Diet, Buying, Selling, Adoption, Animal Rescue, Fitness, and health issues.

With a customer base of over 500 families, 10,000+ members and growing at the rate of 2000-3000 per month, Dogsvilla is destined to be one of a kind Pet company in India.

Akram shared that Pitbull is one of the most misunderstood breed in the world. As per him any dog not trained, socialized, or kept properly has a great chance of being an aggressive or dominant dog. American Pitbull terriers were once known as the “Nanny Dogs” is USA because of their soft and loving nature towards the humans, especially babies. Over the year’s people abused the power of this breed and started using them for Dog fights and as a result this breed earned a bad name.

Breeds and More about dogs

Terrier breed dogs, by nature, are fun loving creatures, and Akram travels with his Pitbull, Davo, across the country to show people what a real Pitbull is like. In the show, we met for the 1st time, American Bully, American Pitbull Terrier & American Staffordshire Terrier. Though it was a Terrier breed meet, the spectators could not resist and brought their own dogs too.

The highlight of the show was Picaso, a pocket size American Bully and the youngest of them all. And we found that the craziest them of all was ” MAJNU” who was so playful & mixed up with every other dog & the people around.

Akram Shared with us the types of Bull dogs, which can be seen in the image below. He told us how this breed originated, which is basically a mix of Bulldog and Terrier breed over the years. He also shared complete list of the dog that fall in the Bully category.

In the end, Akram stressed that one should not go for a dog on the basis of the looks. He shared that each breed has a purpose and only if you can meet the need of that breed you must get one home. Keeping a breed such a Saint Bernard in a hot climate like Indore is crime.

Some people ask him for Rottweiler because they look macho but have no knowledge of this breed. As a result, they put themselves and others at risk of getting bitten.

For terrier Akram shared that this breed is a game breed and they have lots of energy and love to chase things. Lack of exercise to this breeds turns into frustration and the dog may become destructive. Hence only if you can give good amount of time, or have plenty of space you must think of getting one home.

Which Dog Should I Get ?

There is an enormous variety of dogs in shape, size, personality and abilities. Different breeds will have certain characteristics for which they were bred. You must consider several things before deciding over a dog.

  1. How much time can you spend with it?

  2. What space can you provide them?

  3. how much exercise can you give it ?

  4. how much training can you do ?

  5. How much grooming can you do?

  6. Which sex do you want, Male or Female ?

  7. What characteristics do you want in a dog ?

Team Indore HD had a great time interacting with team Dogsvilla and knowing about Dogs in detail. It was quite informative to know how much role a training has to play when it comes to bringing up of dogs, irrespective of their breed. For more info, dig in the link.
