Metro Rail Corporation Limited authorities are aiming to complete the shifting of 132KV overhead power supply lines in the Vijay Nagar area. The overhead high-tension line which passes from Radisson square to Bapat Square is posing hurdles in the construction of elevated viaduct track of the proposed metro rail line. A metro station is also likely to come up in the area.
The urban development and housing administration are going with the tender process for shifting of 132KV line between Radisson Square and Bapat Square for which instruction has been issued in this regard Also, a 12-month time has been fixed for this work which would start soon.
It would be an elevated corridor with pillars and their piles that are coming in the middle of the road. Owing to this, the 132KV transmission line has to be shifted for which the option to shift the line behind Meghdoot Garden from the middle of MR-10 road is kept open.
Earlier, Officials were also considering an option of shifting line underground, however, the idea was dropped owing to additional cost and maintenance-related requirements.
Metro rail corporation officials estimate the expenditure of Rs30 crore on this work, and it would be borne by the corporation only.
State Power Distribution Company officials have raised a concern about disruptions and alternative arrangements required to avoid a major disruption in distribution work.
A detailed proposal would be sought if there is any requirement about the shifting of a transmission line. Work on the same can be initiated only after alternative supply arrangements are made along with a financial commitment for the cost involved in the work.
