Taking a boat ride on Dal lake has been in everybody’s bucket list. However, not always and not everyone can one mark a tick next to it but now, Indoreans can get the feeling of a serene boat ride on Dal Lake without going anywhere outside the city.
Indoreans can relish the ride in the city sitting on a shikara (small hut boat) in the Pipliyapala pond of Regional Park. A 15-seat boat designed as shikara will offer a ride in the Pipliyapala pond to visitors. A minimum of five people will be taken on a boat ride. Besides, Kitty and a birthday party can also be organized here.
The ticket price is Rs 100 out of which the company will have to give 10 percent revenue to Indore Tourism Promotion Council. The district administration started the boat rides recently.
Prior to this, Malwa Queen was started on this pond. It was a cruise-cum-restaurant. However, it didn’t turn out to be a viable venture and as a result of which, the company had to shut it a couple of years ago. There were some other reasons too for the project not doing good business. As a response factor of this shikara ride, the facility will continue on till January 15 and on the basis of response, the extension of the same will be decided upon.
Also, the administration has deployed home guard personnel and divers to deal with any untoward situation.
