    इंदौर की 9 ग्राम पंचायत बनेंगी Semi-urban Swachhscape का हिस्सा!

Following in the footsteps of Indore city, nine gram panchayats of Indore district will soon turn into Swachhscape.  In order to achieve the desired results, the district administration is planning to implement a cluster-wise waste management system to streamline and upgrade services. Through this distinctive initiative, these ‘semi-urban’ gram panchayats will replace the stinky open drainage system with sustainable Swachh initiatives and also bid adieu to haphazard garbage collection.

As per the survey conducted in Manglia with a focus on the cluster-wise waste management system, it was brought to light that these nine gram panchayats of vicinity generate around 16 tonnes solid waste on a daily basis. It was revealed that whilst some gram panchayats had resources for door-to-door garbage collection and segregation, the rest under the cluster lacked those arrangements; making it haphazard in nature.

Hence, in order to eschew from further difficulties in future, the cluster-wise system will ensure door-to-door garbage collection from around 12,247 households and some 2,000 commercial establishments of nine gram panchayats facilitating around 65,000 population of the area.

Furthermore, the cluster-wise waste management system also includes faecal sludge management (FSM) system to treat sewage water for reuse, especially in irrigation. In this part, a system will be installed to recycle faecal sludge and water from it to be used for agriculture and industry purposes while rest will be used to produce biogas, biodiesel or electricity.

As far as the development of cluster- wise management system is concerned, the system will be taken care of on public-private-partnership (PPP) model. The role of gram panchayats will be to collect Swachhta Tax and ensure door-to-door garbage through vehicles whilst tenders will be invited to assign work of segregation, processing and disposal of garbage.

Hitherto, nine gram panchayats of Manglia cluster including Manglia, Pirkaradiya, Budhibarlai, Sullakhedi,  Dakachya, Lasudiaparmar, Dhabali, Rampiplia and Kailodhala, generate around 25 lakh litre of grey water (kitchen waste) daily while generation of black water (sewage) was yet to be ascertained.
