Apple recently announced the old favourite – the iPod Touch’s comeback in the market. Cut to times when music wasn’t restricted to the baggage of so many random applications. You could literally experience an i-phone on a music playing device. What’s interesting to note is, the ipod’s launch comes days before the tech giant’s iconic WWDC 2019, which is set to take place next week. Guess Apple is upping the game and breaking the big smartphone monotony, after-all!
Since the year 2015, the first new iPod comes as Apple shifts its emphasis on digital content and other services to override the slowing smartphone market, and with many news organizations struggling to monetize their online services. If you are looking forward to what’s new in the iPod Touch, we’d be telling you everything you need to know about the new Apple iPod Touch.
“iOS is the world’s largest gaming platform, and with three times faster graphics, games on the new iPod touch run even smoother and look even more beautiful,” – Apple.
The Processor
A10 Fushion Chip that runs on the iPhone 7 series, will be the processor for the new Apple iPod Touch as well. This in-turn will boost up the performance while giving the iPod room for some superior graphics, and a great battery life. Talking about the battery, a one full charge on the iPod Touch will give you 40 hours of playback time and eight hours of playing videos, which is great isn’t it?
The Display
Owing to the fact that the iPod Touch is the lightest Apple device so far, the i-pod is 6.1mm thin, is 88 grams in weight has a four-inch retina display.
Gaming
This is our personal favourite – The new iPod Touch supports Augmented Reality (AR) and is compatible with the newly launched Apple Arcade. Apple’s gaming service will give you access to 100 games without the interruption of any ads or in-app purchases.
Augmented reality is the integration of digital information with the user’s environment in real time. Unlike virtual reality, which creates a totally artificial environment, augmented reality uses the existing environment and overlays new information on top of it.
The OS
The Apple iPod Touch will run on iOS 12, which is the same Operating System that the iPhone X series runs on. With the new ipod you can stay in touch with friends and family on iMessage (via WiFi), and can you use Group calls on FaceTime. The new screen time feature on the ipod will enable you to download any app from the App Store, alongside keeping track of how much time you are spending on them.
The Camera
With a 8MP camera on the back, an aperture of f/2.4, with Auto Image Stabilisation and HDR, the new ipod is sure one with great features. It even lets you record slow-mo and time-lapse videos without having to download several different applications. Don’t worry, there’s a selfie camera too, which a 1.2MP, but can be used only for taking pictures or FaceTime because there is no Face ID or Touch ID.
The Audio
Thankfully, Apple has brought back the 3.5mm headphone jack with the iPod Touch. You can listen to music from any streaming app, while it lets you browse your storage too, obviously.
In the times people owned the iPod classic, or the ipod mini and touch came around, they literally filled their libraries by downloading songs on computers and later syncing them into the players. But today, it’s a fast paced world, and thankfully the new ipod touch allows music streaming apps.
The Variants
The new Apple iPod Touch comes in three variants in terms of storage space i.e. 32GB, 128GB and 256GB. It also comes in a range of colours from space grey, gold, silver, pink, blue, to RED.

Apple TV+, News+
Earlier this year, Apple unveiled streaming video plans, news and game subscriptions with a vision to shift its focus to digital content and services. This is also been seen as a break-free move from the giant’s reliance on iPhone sales.
The giant is all set to launch an Apple TV+ service, an on-demand, ad-free subscription service, in 100 countries.
If you have never used an iOS device, or haven’t owned an iPad or an iPhone stashed away, the new iPod Touch seems like a great entry product to get a feel of the iOS, without burning a hole in your pocket. It will let you have a hands-on experience of an Apple product. We are really looking forward to its launch in India. Are you?
