The theme of this year’s celebration of IISF 2020 is Science for Self-Reliant India and World Welfare which will showcase the contribution of scientific and technological efforts to meet the goal of the Self-reliant India campaign. IISF 2020: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the India International Science Festival – 2020 (IISF 2020) today. In this regard, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has shared information by tweeting from his official Twitter account. The program will be inaugurated by PM through video conferencing at 4:30 pm.
Based on the theme ‘Science for Self-reliant India and World Welfare’, the festival will be inaugurated on 22 December on the birth anniversary of the famous mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and will conclude on 25 December on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu will address the concluding program.

Giving information about the sixth India International Science Festival, Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the year 2020 is very important from the point of view of science. This year, in the midst of the corona virus epidemic crisis, the way scientists have shown the power of science in saving human life, it can be called the year of science and science. With the hard work of scientists, we have prepared essential things like PPE kits, ventilators in a short time. We are also very close to making vaccines.

Harshvardhan said that IISF is an annual event. It is organized in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of External Affairs, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Vigyan Bharati as well as a large number of other organizations at the initiative of the Government of India. This year, IISF 2020 begins on the occasion of the birth anniversary of world-renowned Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. It will conclude on December 25, 2020, on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of the country, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

At the same time, the convenor of the event, Dr. Ranjana Aggarwal, said that this time the entire festival will be virtual. For this, more than 1 lakh people have registered from different regions so far. The four-day festival will feature 41 different events. 13 new programs have also been included in these. A session has also been held for Games and Toy, whose focus is to develop a market for Indian toys.
