Madhya Pradesh is known for its culture, food, and people. While Monsoons are an excellent excuse to travel, these places in MP make for stunning sites to visit with family or friends.

Kanha National Park
The famous book “The jungle book” by Rudyard Kipling is based on the jungles of Kanha. It speaks for its rich in lush Saal and bamboo forests , lakes, streams and open grasslands. Apart from the famous tigers , the Barasingha (swamp deer) also roams a vast variety of animals. The KAnha National park is well regarded for its vast research and conservation programs undertaken by forest officials and other NGO’s which have saved a lot of species from extinction.
Orchha temples
Located in the banks of Betwa river, this historic place has a lot of distinctive medieval charm full of well preserved temples and forts surrounded by an array of flora and fauna. A stay at the Jehangir Mahal Hotel Sheesh Mahal completed the experience with a panoramic view of the complete area. Its many abandoned historic cities provide an intriguing window to the past.
Gwalior Fort
Just a two hour drive from Agra Taj Mahal is the easily accessible city of Gwalior. Its famous 1000 year old invincible fort towers over the city. A number of palaces and temples are inside the fort out of which the highlight being the Man MAndir palace. From the top , one can see the stretched out old town of Gwalior, which even today looks mesmerising. The famous Mughal time architecture is also seen here as the Tomb of Tansen which even holds the famous Tansen Music Festival every year.
Bhopal
The capital city of MP is often remembered as the tragic mishap that took place in 1984 when a pesticide manufacturing plant leaked a mixture of poisonous gases and took lives of thousands and lakhs of people. Apart from this the city is known as the city of Lakes as two lakes make the serenity of the place. Bhopal is also known for its tribal museums and mosques like the Taj ul Masjid , Jama Masjid and Moti Masjid. All in all it is a much quieter and peaceful place to live.
Malwa Region Golden Triangle
The southwest portion of the state of MP is comprised as the MAlwa region. With Indore as the point of entry , Ujjain, MAndu and Omkareshwar popularly make up as the Golden triangle. Ujjain having its high sanctity value is an important location for the Kumbh Mela and also has one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas , the Mahakaleshwar temple.
Though the abandoned city of MAndu on the other hand was home to the Mughals with lush green gardens and lakes and palaces. The 45km stretch of wall with 12 gateways are very impressive to look at.
The island of Omkareshwar in the Narmada river is said to appear in the shape of “OM” when viewed from top. It is also one of the 12 jyotirlinga sites with Narmada river which draws people from ages to worship lord Shiva. Its famous amongst a lot of nature lovers as it is a perfect site for camping and short trips.
Bandhavgarh National Park
The Bandhavgarh national park is relatively difficult to reach and costly to visit. Yet it is the best place in central India to see tigers in the wild. Dense green valleys and the rocky hill terrain along with an ancient fort makes this place a complete bliss. Apart from the tigers , a vivid range of flora and fauna like sloth bears, leopards, jackals and deers etc call this place as their home.
Satpura National Park
A complete serene national park with nature in abundance offers a great relaxing crowd free space for visitors. It is also one of the only protected national parks where visitors are allowed to walk through. The trail is tiring but water falls at the end make the whole trip worthwhile. Cycling, jeep Safaris and canoe safaris are few other tourist attractions in the forest.
