1. Salman Khan

Indore is so proud to say that the “Bhaijaan” of Bollywood, the SALMAN KHAN, was born and brought up in Indore. Our boy “PREM” has given his fans back to back super hit record breaking movies. 2. Lata Mangeshkar

The Queen of music, fondly called Didi, was born in Indore. After her father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, a theatre actor and a classical singer died at his early stage, being the eldest, she took care of her family. When we hear her voice, it is so hard to believe that when she was struggling in the industry, her voice for rejected as it was the era of heavy voices and her voice is more on the subtle, soothing side. It is said that when she sang the song Aye Mere Watan ke logon, in front of Jawaharlal Nehru, it brought tears to his eyes.

3. Rahul Dravid

Indore is more than proud to be called as the hometown on “The Wall” Rahul Dravid. This Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan honoured cricket player is the second Indian cricketer, after Tendulkar to score 10,000 runs both in Tests and in ODIs. March 2012, he announced his retirement from international and first class cricket and he appeared in the 2012 Indian Premier League as captain of the Rajasthan Royals.

His real name is Badruddin Jamaluddin Kazi. Johnny Walker was his screen name. He was the sole bread earner out of 10 children in the family. Famous would be an understating compliment for this person. Who knew that a son of a mill-worker, a bus conductor at Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) would turn out to be such an amazing actor and give us so many bollywood classics. Born in Mewar, he studied at The Daly College, Indore. Has contributed extraordinarily in Medical Science. Chitranjan Singh Ranawat is a hip surgeon, who lives in New York, United States. He is a winner of Padma Bhushan, He had operated on former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s knee. He is the Director of the Orthopeadic Surgery at Center for Total Joint Replacement in New York. He is also a philanthropist and runs a public trust Ranawat Foundation Trust.

8. Rahat Indori

A very prestigious Urdu poet and a very renowned bollywoood lyricist was also born and brought up in Indore. He also studied Urdu literature at Devi Ahilya University. He recited his first sher when he was only 19 years old and at this time, his ideas very fascinating and had novelty in it. He has travelled a lot internationally to recite poetry. He once managed to escape out of a shootout in Pakistan when he was there for his performance.
