78k Homes Visited as IMC Begins Community Survey

As a measure to tackle coronavirus pandemic, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) officials have started door-to-door visits out of which IMC teams have visited more than 77814 households. The visits intend to check people with any history of foreign travel, anyone with covid-19 symptoms as well as tracking the ones who came in contact of infected person.

Apart from the aforementioned details, the teams are also collecting information on total number of members in the family, anyone with cold cough or fever, and those who are already on medication for conditions like blood pressure, diabetes, cancer or other health issues. As part of this community survey, around 1064 IMC teams are out on the field.

The teams are visiting households of their respective assigned routes covering both housing societies and individual houses. As we report, of 77814 households where IMC teams paid visit, excluding containment and buffer zones, 129 were found to have had contact of positive Covid patients, and around 3404 residents were found to have mild cold, cough, and fever related symptoms.

According to the officials, the objective of this survey is to look for any patients with travel history or similar symptoms, create awareness on coronavirus, dispel myths and make people aware about precautions. This can be termed as awareness cum surveillance drive in which IMC staff are speaking to house owner or head of the family.

People are informed of the symptoms and then asked if any of them is experiencing them. In case those symptoms are there, the officials can move them into isolation. Furthermore, the team also asks about anyone having travel history and asks them to home quarantine for 14 days. In case of symptomatic people, a team of doctors would pay a visit to residents.
