Kali associated with empowerment (Shakti), Kalika is one of the main goddess of Hindu. Kali is known as the goddess of Time, Power, Creation, Preservation, destruction and Change, and also considered as the “Redeemer of the universe” (Bhavatarini).
Location
Kalika Mandir in Indore is two and half Km away from the Khajrana Square. From square the road leading towards khajrana temple, it’s located 50 steps ahead of Khajrana temple in Indore.
About MahaKali Mandir Indore
- The temple was built by an engineer and follower of Kalika mata, Shyam Bapuji in 1976. At that time, they kept a small idol of the goddess for worshiping. The people also believe that for making this temple Shaym Bapuji has sold his three out of four factories.
- The present idol is in the form of Mahishasur Mardhini, it was brought in 1984 from Chitoli Rajasthan. The idol is 9 feet tall and made up of marble.
- In the year 1987 the ceremony of consecrating the idol has performed, thereafter the maha aarti started here.
- As no goddess temple is complete without the presence of Bheraw ji’s temple here as well you can see temple of Bheraw ji and Shiv ji also.
Speicalities of this temple
- It is believed that this is the biggest 9 feet tall idol of kalika mata in India, even the idol in Kolkata is of 7 feet height.
- The specialty of the idol is that the complete idol is made by single black marble stone.
- The goddess idol has a peaceful facial expression.
- The temple is built in that way, a person stands at any corner of the temple he/she can have the full vision of idol.
