The event took heed at 5’o clock in the evening and people from the nearby towns and villages had gathered to appreciate the Heroism at Hingaut.
What is Hingaut?
If you wonder Hingaut to be the name of an ancient play that has been heir looped to this generation in order to respect bravery, you probably are mistaken. Neither is it any ritual front that the villagers stand by to.
Hingaut is a term used for a small fruit which appears hard from the upper crust and hollow within, similar to that of a coconut. This Hingaut is used to form the weapon for the battle. Once the fruit is cleaned from its inside it is filled with gun powder (बारूद) at its one end and sealed with mud at the other. A cracker is formed once the hingaut bomb is fixed with a knot to make sure the weapon achieves its target rightly. Interesting part is that while manufacturing the same they take the Hingaut fruit nearly 22 times in their hands.
What’s Amazing?
Despite the constricting incomes and raising expenses of the citizens, youth readily participate in the festival at the stakes of their own wages. They do not expect or look forward to any sort of help from the neighbouring states or the government for that matter. Participants from both the provinces take part in the game overlooking at the risks involved and come out of the battle ground with celebrating brotherhood and saluting sport’s man spirit applauding the termination of the same.
Warriors in deed
The warriors step into the field in full form covering their head with a turban and helmet over it. A spear in one hand while their armour in the other, shoulders bear the bag filled with Hingaut and Hearts filled with courage and spirit of a warrior. They inaugurate the eve tapping their feet at the beats of the base drum and meeting great enthusiasm before proceeding towards the royal brawl and bow their heads in name of Lord Devnarayan before they step ahead towards the battle field.
