Though we might be living very busy lives and thinking that there isn’t much around Indore to explore on the weekends, we are actually missing out a great place that not only offers you a quiet and peaceful atmosphere but also gives you a chance to see exotic species of birds when you get there. If you haven’t guessed by now which place we are talking about, then ladies and gentlemen, Sirpur Lake is where you should be this weekend. It gives you a mix of greenery and sort of a jungle experience where you could explore possibly a lot more than you bargained for.
It’s Not Far and It Is Beautiful

This place gets a special mention and a dedicated blog only because of the fact that we Indori people tend to ignore it, probably because we have heard about it so much that we don’t even care to go there. Sirpur Lake is known to attract hordes of birds, especially the migratory ones and during the rainy season, the beauty of the place increases ten folds. If you’re lucky enough, you may be able to spot some exotic ones like owls, purple swamp hens, grey hornbills, gajpaav around the area as well.

The place wasn’t that well maintained before but recent development and the clean city drive has made the place look nicer than before. There are always some or the other people around the area to catch a glimpse of their favourite species of birds so you don’t have to worry about getting lost in the area.
Exploring the Area
Sirpur Lake is near to the main city of Indore and is about 20-25 km, depending on the location where you are travelling from. After reaching there, you won’t be finding any difficulty to explore the area and get yourself the best of bird-watching opportunities.
If you haven’t explored the Sirpur Lake by now, then we urge you to do the same. So put on your sports shoes, pick up your cameras and binoculars, walk a few miles as it showers in Indore and we promise you, you are going to love the place!
