Why you must not miss this golden chance to witness one of the most renowned plays on Indian art scene this Saturday, is not only because of the scarcity of any such thing even talked about in this city; but also for the fact that something like this on such a grand scale is happening in the city for the first time. I mean c’mon, how many of us actually get a chance to visit another city just to attend a play?! Not many! And when the play is actually happening in the city; well, it’s your only chance to witness it!
For “The” Naseeruddin Shah
As we all know, Naseeruddin Shah is one of the finest and most soulful actor India is blessed with and if you are going to miss the chance of not only seeing him, but actually watching him perform at his best, then it is something you are going to regret for life time. Shah has directed “Ismat Apa Ke Naam” which is a collection of three stories, and also acts in it. The play narrates three stories “Chui Mui,” “Gharwali” and “Mughal Bacha,” which talk about the survival of women in a patriarchal set-up. Shah is playing both the roles of a Man and a Woman in this play and this shows the sheer talent this man has flowing in his veins.
For The Love Of Theatre
Theatre was always beyond Bollywood. It was always beyond the masala, beyond the song sequences and actions. Watching Theatre is like taking a stroll in the forest, where you feel alive, breathing and walking, and experiencing ‘life’ for the first time. What makes the play more enchanting is the fact that there is minimal use of props and they have made sure that they have kept the play as raw it was in the book. This actually makes the experience far richer and more entertaining than any story-telling session I can think of.
For the Love of Literature
‘Ismat Apa Ke Naam’ is the enactment of three stories written by celebrated and controversial author – Ismat Chughtai. Ismat’s writing is Raw, forward, and she makes you think before you actually dare to read the other paragraph. It’s not only about the raw appeal her pen strokes on the empty pages, but the way she creates a picture collecting words; she forces you to live each character that she has carved in your mind after filtering it from your heart.
A great set of three plays, definitely worth watching; in fact, one of those plays that must not be missed. We promise that you are going to remember this for years to come!
