The Central India’s Biggest Cultural Festival Simhastha Malwa Utsav was held in Indore last week from 9th May to 16th May. For celebrating the uniqueness of Malwa, and marking its 16th year Lok Shanskriti Manch organised the event. This year the event was eight days long. This event was the biggest gathering of around 400 artists and 350 craftsmen from across the country.
It was an event where artist showcased their talents, and visitors got the chance to witness the special art and craft workshops and to enjoy an array of delicious and aromatic delicacies.
This time the festival was dedicated to Simhastha and so the theme for stage design was “Shiv Mandir”. The theme was basically derived from the Shiva temple of Madhya Pradesh, which is famous for its uniqueness. The event was inaugurated by CM of Madhya Pradesh Shivaraj Sing Chouhan, and the extraordinary enthusiasm of artists was eminently visible.
The entire Malwa Utsav 2016 Exhibition & Fair was divided into four zones for different set of visitors,
The Shilp Bazaar:
More than 350 craftsmen from 22 states of India were exhibiting their Arts & handicrafts . The best from all the arts from these states were on display from iron, bamboo, textile handicrafts, carpets, ceramic items, cane furniture, etc. the decors made of clay were captivating the visitors. At Shilp bazaar various workshops were taking place in which training on making Paper Mache, clay work and mandna were given to the interested participants. Other than these, different stalls like imitation jewelry and footwear were also drawing the attention of shopping lovers.
The Trade Zone & The Auto Expo
Trade zone was the area where the various Trading, Service Providing, FMCG & other Utility products Companies exhibited their products and services. Malwa Utsav also had an “Education Fair” for the students where they got helpful counselling related to their better Career. What’s new, what’s in trend all about automobiles was in one place. Those who are inquisitive about the latest in automobile were enjoying it. The premium brands of the automobile sector as well as new and user-friendly accessories and services were on display.
Food Zone
For enticing the taste buds of visitors the food zone was occupied with the variety of dishes from several states.To add-on to the fun and excitement part there was a play zone, which was full of amazing rides. The Cultural Festival
The cultural programs of Malwa Utsav 2016 began from the 10th of may which continued till the last day i.e. 16th May 2016. Here are the exclusive day-wise glimpses of beautiful performances & ceremonies of the entire event.
First day:
The function was inaugurated by Honourable Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The Group of artist present Krishna Lila with the Kathak dance. Drums, flute and with the traditional songs the artist begun the festival.
Second day:
The folk dance of north east “Bihu” and the folk dance of Maharashtra “Lavani” was the attractions of the day.
Third Day:
“Matki” Dance from malwa and “koli” dance from fisherman was the charm of the day. Several Malwa-based performances were enthralling the visitors.
Fourth day:
Special instruments made of bulls hones were used by artists of Betul in their performances. The special folk dance of UP was presented by artists.
Fifth day:
Audiences enjoyed the Phag, Ghumar, Gidda, and Bhangra.
Sixth day:
The attraction of the day was a traditional dance of Nimad and Odissi dance. The special element was the performance by a band of Indore.
Seventh day:
The conclusion of the fest was as grand as its beginning was. Dance of Bhagori, Odissi dance, Garba and Panjabi Gidda was the main performances of the day.
The Simastha Malwa Utsav 2016 ends with the hope of coming back next year. It was one of the astounding festivals that glitter with the brilliance of classical dancers, musicians, singers, and other folk artists. A worthwhile event comprises Entertainment, Artistic Shopping, and Lip-Smacking food.
