Being a part of Malwa region, Indore signifies a brand example of malwi language and though it has merged itself well with the urbanisation of the city it yet seems no apocalypse to the legendary thesaurus of Indore. Here is a list of few words that exclusively belong to Indore dictionary.

1. “Bhiyao”

Bhai- bandhu-dost- yaa, everything comes under this one discovery of Indore hides. Bhiyao seems to be one of the most uttered words from the urban Indore dictionary. And it might seem to be of in less use by the haughty types but we cannot extract the “Bhiyao” from the Indorie tongue.


2. “Hao”

Once or more than once, you can’t deny of using this term in your lifetime if you have ever been a part of Indore. The word comes in its multiple forms; from being used as a random yes to an inevitable justification to sarcasm to wit… the word can come in “n” number of applications as long as you may keep it hovering on your mind.


3. “Dhulna or Dholna”

Where an average Indian, even central Indian would use “girna” to its counterpart for the word that means to spill, Indore has its own version to describe it. No wonder to them crying over spilled milk is ruthless as it may anytime had been a cup of tea.


4. “12 Bajaun”

Where in our national language the phrase is often used in its passive form, in the active Indore’s lingo its usage comes in its active form. 12 bajaun stands for a hostile inception of a person for the other, where one challenges the other of making him repent for his previous actions by harming him morally, physically, mentally or socially.


5. “Ni”

When world says, “Nahi” for a no, Indore hides have their own version to respond negatively that in a way reflects the sweet positive within them. And no matter how hard they try, coming out of this lingo evolution seems like: “nhi hopayega!”


6. “Aebla”

When you call someone an Aebla you mean the person is comparatively dumb, bimbo or succumbing a lousy attitude which is hard to take and irresistible to use any other word but “aeble” to bring yourself calming down the fuss.


7. “Bhanat”

Other than a few marwarhi speaking regions on mother India, the nation widely used the word variedly. Literally the word stands for ones liking or being allured by something. The dramatically used word in a lot of bollywood songs is used fairly and frequently


8. “Geliya”

You describe someone as a galiya when the level of your irk reaches a height where “Geliya” is the only term helping you out from standing a lunatic. In simple words- an idiot! While when idiot doesn’t work out to show grudge words like this are what make Indore people so cool at mind.


9. “Jhannat”

Sexy! Sweet! Spicy! Anything probably would fit in to this club of alphabets. No wonder when the city comes with too many chances to bring such words in use, a single “jhannat” works well in all cases.


10. “Sughla”

Although, very less things might seem to come in the frame of its semantic frame, yet the unbeatable street spitters, pissers and polluters contestants, who may create history if they kept it a sport in the Olympics- totally take the tag: sughla. Someone too unpleasing to bear with because of (well Indore is too tolerant to almost everything accept those stated formerly) their habits.
