Remember the Indore back in the 90’s, when we used to have these Blue Line Buses and Nagar Sevas all around the city? Do you remember how stepping into one of those was like stepping into a battle ground, where maintaining the ‘Whiteness’ of your shirt used to be the biggest challenge of the day? Remember, how you used to step in the front and were at the last seat, almost kissing the rear windscreen of the bus, when you neared your destination? Well, those were the good old Nagar Seva days. Now, if you are going to sit in a city bus, something that Indore was very much proud of in India, you are going to have a similar experience.
What Went Wrong with City Buses Indore?
Indore City Transport Services Limited was incorporated on 1 December 2005 and was one of its kind in whole of India. The buses were colour coded as per the routes and when it started; it was one of the most sophisticated bus transportation systems in India. But, as we all know, Indorians have an ability to strip things down when they see them working in a perfect order and when the entire population of Indore saw these buses and traveled in them, they could not bear the fact that why they are so clean, so maintained, and so high tech. So, they decided to spit in it, the seats soon became battered and the whole bus looked like it belonged to an era that was dominated by tempos and Nagar Sevas in Indore.
Who Is To Be Blamed?
Indore City Transport Services and the citizens of Indore; both. We have to work together to maintain something that connects majority of the people, at throw away price. Don’t just treat something badly because it is offering you a drive for almost free. And Indore City Transport Services needs to step up and maintain the buses in a lot more better manner and they need to replace the buses which are in real bad condition.
What Could Be Done?
We are not saying that only the people who travel in city buses are responsible for the bad condition of them. Indore City Transport Services need to maintain their buses in a proper manner also but they need your support for the same as well. Another major problem is, the buses that are rattling, are nearing their life cycle are still doing their duty and as a result; they are polluting the environment more and creating a very bad impression to someone, who is visiting the city for the first time.
Like the way the new BRTS buses are running, we need to ensure that the old city buses continue to be in good condition too. If we are going to contribute a little from our side, that little from so many people is going to be accumulated to something big and it will eventually make the city transportation in Indore as good as the time it was incepted.
Team Indore HD requests all the people who are travelling in city buses to adhere to the rules and be a little more responsible towards a duty that we have for this city. As we always say – “Give It Back To Your City,” please do make it count.
