    Republic Day which commemorates the enactment of the Constitution of India is celebrated on January 26 every year. The zeal of celebrating this day is seen in everybody be it a kid or an old person. The constitution which bounded a diversified culture of India came into force on 26th January 1950.

    This year, to celebrate Republic day, India has invited Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro. PM Modi, at the 11th BRICS Summit, had invited the Brazilian President for the Republic Day parade. At the 11th BRICS summit, PM Modi and Bolsonaro indulged in ‘fruitful talks’ in order to strengthen bilateral ties with him. Furthermore,  PM Modi spoke about diversifying cooperation for the benefit of the people as well.

    * The first time Republic day was celebrated in India was on January 26, 1950.

    * The Republic Day parade generally starts from Rajpath and ends at Red Fort in Delhi.

    * It was the hard work of 11 months and 18 days to finally put the Constitution of India into a final draft. BR Ambedkar and his team full-fledged worked towards the same.

    * The constitution is written in two languages, English and Hindi which are both handwritten.

     * The Indian Constitution is the longest written constitution in the world with as many as 444 articles divided into 22 parts and 12 schedules.

    * Till the time Constitution came into force, India adhered to British Government’s Government of India Act 1935.

    *Abide with me is the hymn which people sing during the Republic Day Parade. The hymn was the favorite of Mahatma Gandhi.

    * From 1950-54, Republic Day was commemorated at Irwin Stadium (now called National Stadium), Red Fort, Ramlila Grounds, and Kingsway. It was first celebrated at Rajghat in 1955.

    * First Head of State of Indonesia, President Sukarno, was the first chief guest of India’s first Republic Day.

    * It is customary that a 21-gun salute is given to the National Flag and the President, during the Flag Hoisting Ceremony on Republic Day.

    * This year 22 tableau out of 56 proposals for the Republic Day parade has been selected by the Ministry of Defence.

    * It will happen for the first time in the history of the Republic Parade that the woman army officer will be seen leading the Army Day Parade.

    * Varied national awards inclusive of Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan, and Kirti Chakra are awarded during the Republic Day ceremony.

    * It was on the Republic Day that the Indian Air Force came into existence. Earlier,  the Indian Air Force was a controlled body. However, after Republic Day, the Indian Air Force became an independent body.
