Recently, Indore HD got a chance to have a word with Indore based Magician, or should we call him an Artist, Mr. Deepak Mishra. Deepak Mishra is an unusual combination of Tricks, methods and sleight-of-hand magician. Performing magic is not simply about entertaining, he points out in this interview, as he states that it is more about how you create something that takes people with awe. Here are the excerpts.
When Was The First Time You Started Magic?
I started with creating tricks 5-6 years back, in the year 2009-2010. I was about 25 then when I was travelling in a train and saw a man doing some really eye catching tricks with coins. That immediately grabbed my attention and as soon as I reached home I started practicing with coins and cards. That was my first step towards the journey of taking one of the most difficult arts called Magic.
Do You Worry That Your Secrets Might Get Shared?
Well, actually, no. I have always considered myself more of an artist rather than a straight forward magician. When you are an artist, you create things and you make them flow towards people. I always catch myself up in the craft of trying to make something “impossible” happen; and if people and budding magician learn something from it then I will be more than happy.
What Is The Most Rewarding Point Of Being A Magician?
Learning. As an artist, I aspire to learn every single day. Being a creative magician always pushes you to learn more tricks in the trade and as you constantly work to spin your mind so that it would startle people out of all of their preconceptions. I discover more and more ways to learn and galvanize my knowledge.
If You Weren’t A Magician, How Would You Be Earning A Living?
If I weren’t a magician, I would have been one by now! There was a time in my life when I went through a rough patch and was bed ridden for almost 10 months. That was the time when my perception changed towards life and I started seeing it with a completely different view. It was magic only that helped me to get rid of the illness and gain back all the lost confidence.
How Many Cities Have You Performed The Shows?
Some of the major cities where I have performed are Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, and Pune. I don’t do big shows but I simply show my tricks to people as a common man. I started my magic performance with one of the best magic companies in USA and have also worked with Troy, who is a very famous magician and leads a show on channel 9 in USA. My tricks are sold worldwide and I have worked with almost every top magic company.
