Katkut: 90Kms from Indore is Lot More Than Just an Off Road Destination

Whenever you plan a journey to a place that is far from city, you end up enquiring about an area that is far away from the chaos of the city you witness on daily basis. Thanks to Internet and loads of options available for the required information. Almost all the places around Indore have been explored by all. This left us with a very slim margin to find a place, where we could find ourselves in the Lap of nature.

“Nature teaches us simplicity and contentment,
because in its presence we realize we need very little to be happy”
– Mark Coleman

After going through a lot of less explored options, we thought to venture into the lands of Katkut; a popular place among people of Indore who love to take their 4*4 machines there.

A Katkut – 90 Kms from Indore

Katkut; a name that most of the Indorians might have read on various FaceBook pages and saw pictures of umpteen Thars and Fortuners getting dirty in the mud on social media. Seldom know about the real beauty Katkut has in store and the mad rush of greenery it presents you, if you are ready to spare some time. We had no plans to put our Vehicle in an all wheel low and pull it from mud; we just wanted to breathe the nature, and Katkut was waiting for us with surprise.

What separates Katkut from the rest of the weekend getaways around Indore is the breathtaking beauty that starts some 25-30 kms before Katkut. From there, you are going to witness some amazing roadside streams, where you could sit and spend hours watching the nature in awe. There are total of 2-3 streams on the way where you could spend some good 1-2 hours before you head back to the final destination – Katkut.

Things to Explore in Katkut

After reaching Katkut, you need to take an alternative route that runs on the left of the main square. From there, all you are going to witness is acres and acres of teak plantation and thick row of forest on both side of the road. When you are going to finally reach the end of Katkut, you will be greeted by a river that is guarded by Forest officials. From there, you have to venture into thick forest that has little or no road and it ends up at the river. The whole scene has a sense of magic to it that needs to be experienced once, especially if you live in Indore.

Katkut can be reached via a road to Ralamandal. The approximate distance between Indore and Katkut is 70 kms and the roads are pretty okay. There are some patches that have too much muck on them and it is recommended that you visit the area in a Jeep or a motorcycle. Avoid going to the area in a car during heavy rainfall.

We were bit sad to find people throwing away bottles and rubbish at some really nice places along the way. We would like to end the article with a request to keep these areas clean. Team IndoreHD appeals the travelers & visitors not to destroy or harm the beautiful Nature & please keep the above points in mind. Its our duty to keep all these natural heritage clean & beautiful so that they continue to give us our peace of mind for the coming years.
