Kalpavriksha, the highly coveted flagship social B-plan event of Iris, continues its legacy as the torch bearer of social upliftment and empowerment. Poised as a platform that encourages students and social enterprises to come up with sustainable business plans, it will also provide them with an opportunity to be mentored by field experts and have their initiatives jump started with seed funding.
Kalpavriksha has lived through an illustrious history of creating success stories that have made their mark on society. We have fostered ideas that are honest, sustainable and are now going live across the world. The essence of Kalpavriksha is reinforced with the belief that sound business acumen, coupled with an innate passion to implement, culminates in a powerful agent of change. This is why we are on the lookout for the socially aware, brilliant minds of this country to take the dais, present their b-plan, and take a step forward towards transforming the world. After all, the spark of an idea is enough to illuminate the path to transformation.

Format of the event
Phase – 1: Screening –
Participant team will submit an executive summary and a complete Business Model of their Social Venture.
Rules for this phase are given below.
Phase – 2: Mentorship –
5 – 10 Shortlisted teams will get an opportunity to receive mentorship support and guidance to prepare and work on their business plan for the next stage
Campus Round –
Panel discussion comprising of esteemed Social Entrepreneurs such as Mr Kailash Satyarthi Nobel Laureate, Prof Anil K Gupta Founder Honey Bee Network, Mr Madan Padaki Co-founder of Head Held High, Mr Anand Kumar of Super 30 fame, Padma Shri Mrs Janak Palta McGillian
Workshops from Social Incubators about best practices
Top 5-10 Teams get to pitch their Business Models before the elite jury and angel investors
Winning Team gets to win a spot funding amount of Rs 5 Lakh
Other teams also stand a chance to raise capital from prospective angel investors
Registration Rules: (Registration fees: Rs 500/- per team to be paid here)
1. Eligibility – Corporate and/or Social Enterprises (0-3 years old) and student enterprises started and/or incubated in educational institutions with proof of work, etc
2. Each team will comprise of maximum 3 members. All the members should be from the same institution
3. Multiple entries from a single institution are allowed
4. An applicant cannot be a part of more than one team
5. One member of each team should be nominated as the team representative (POC) and the same should be communicated to the Kalpavriksha team at the time of the initial submission. All communication from Kalpavriksha will be directed to this representative
6. For entries from outside India, final phase will be conducted using Skype
7. Teams who do not adhere to any of the rules and guidelines will be disqualified at any phase of the event
8. All the entries will be evaluated by faculties, seasoned entrepreneurs and consultants. Their decision shall be final and binding

Rules for Phase 1:
The 1st phase of the contest involves submission of an Executive Summary of the idea/model for a self-sustainable social venture. Deadline for the same is: 11th October, 2015.
Executive summary should be submitted as a Word document (.doc or .docx format) – A cover page along with a 2-3 page summary of your idea / business model (doc/docx).
The summary should be in 11 point font, 1 line spacing and 1 inch margin on each side
Executive summary should not exceed 3 pages. Exhibits, if any, can be included in up to 2 additional pages.
The name of the institute/organization and the names of the participating members, email ids and phone numbers are to be mentioned only on the cover page. It should not appear anywhere else in the body of the document. Also highlight the name of the team representative (POC) for the group. There should be no mention of your institute or the name of the contestants anywhere else in the document.
The doc should be named as Kalpavriksha_TeamName
The Executive Summary should be mailed to kalpavriksha@iris-iimi.com by 11th October, 2015.
The Executive Summary is expected to address the following areas:
The problem or condition being addressed – A brief account of the issue and its present status – Implications of the same on society
The Business Model – Statement of the initiative – Details of the execution plan
The Revenue Structure
Impact of solution
Scalability and Progress Achieved
Details about the management team working on the enterprise
